Why is it important for clients to be aware of their body composition?

When being a client it is important to know your body composition because this is a breakdown of your body fat, lean muscle and bone. This provides a better sense of a persons overall health. Everybody is different and may need to gain muscle, some may need to lose muscle or fat. In all reality when you know your body composition you set goals for yourself.  You can increase or decrease your type of workout or fitness place. Strength training can increase lean body muscle and bones.  Ways to measure your body composition include the skin fold thickness.  A tool called a caliper, this is used to pinch or measure layers of skin. There are number of spots to do this on the body. The caliper for a good proper tool can cost around $300. The cheaper the less likely to work and give more accurate results. Another technique is called hydro-static weighing. This involves sitting in a chair that is lowered into a pool of water. You breathe in before you go under and exhale when you’re completely under. This technique measures body fat measurements. There also is a machine called the bod-pod. This can also tell your body composition. This can cost up to $30,000. There are many ways to keep on track with your body and keeping it healthy. It is very important that you do so. If you feel it would be easier get help, there are trainers out there who do this for a job and are willing to help.

As A Fitness Professional what role do you have in promoting strong bones?

As a fitness professional I play a role in promoting strong bones by helping my clients in becoming stronger and healthier. When I work in a professional business I am there to motivate my clients to become stronger and decrease their risks in getting osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is caused when there is a loss of calcium from the bones that leads to weekend bones. Also a creation of new bone does not keep up with the removal of old bone. When clients are working out I would encourage them to keep getting better or to increase their weights every time or every other time so that they are getting the benefits of working out. I don’t just want them to show up and not have progress and feel like they are not meeting their goals. The bones are very important, they hold the body together and provide a structure for tissues and organs.  The two most important exercises I would encourage are weight-bearing and muscle-strength.  The weight bearing exercises create a way to build the bones and keep them stronger. There are also non-bearing exercises that can be done. These include balance exercises, posture, and functional exercises. These exercises decrease the risk of falling and broken bones. These help improve everyday activities.  I would also recommend starting off easy when it comes to working out. Your bones are more than likely going to have to get use to working out and being active. For any clients I may work with in the future I will do my best to get them to achieve their goals and understand the importance of staying healthy and their bone knowledge.

What is the role of Customer Service in the Fitness and Wellness industry

The role of customer service in the fitness industry is so important. Showing respect and greeting your clients/patients is a key point. To keep the industry going you need customers who will continue to grow with you and your business. When the clients who are working out want to deal with good customer service in the workout facility.  Customer service is more than just a greeting, it is how you treat your customers and how they react. Becoming close with them is important, let them know that are in good hands and will get the best help. When I help customers at work I am patient with them, I want them to be satisfied when they leave. In a fitness center the people working out do not just come and go without a proper greeting or some friendly advice. Keep the customers coming back, do this by encouraging them telling them to keep up the good work. Use the work policy and guidelines. If the customer is not happy with your help just be patient with them, or if you have to resort to doing so by finding someone who can help them. If you cant do something the customer wants in the facility because of the guidelines, you have to listen and do your job correctly. Not everyone will be satisfied but you are doing your job. Watching how and what you say is also important. If you say something in a specific tone the customer may take it wrong and start being rude with you. Be positive when you are talking.

My Role in Hypertension Awareness and Education

These past couple of days I have been learning more and more about hypertension and blood pressure. I have increased my knowledge and I now know what they mean. Hypertension is high blood pressure and this could be at the risk of death, stroke and even a coma. I do suggest that you get your blood pressure checked monthly. It is nice to know in case you need to be prepared for something. There really aren’t any symptoms of high blood pressure so you as a client may not know.  Some clients or patients may get headaches, shortness of breath or even nosebleeds. Its rather better to be safer than sorry, so see your doctor.

My First Semester At FCC

My first semester at FCC was very interesting. I have learned so much compared to what I would be learning  at my high school. I am glad I decided to come to FCC. Its always nerve wrecking doing new things and leaving everything behind, but I would say it’s worth it. This school has prepared me for college and I still have a lot of learning left to do. I want to go to college after graduating here, I am just not sure where I want to attend.  Next semester I plan to get more article review waivers or not wait too late to do the articles. I think I did pretty good this semester with not waiting last minute. They weren’t so bad because you learn something new every time you do an article. You  get to read over  other opinions.

Zumba Class

This class was very interesting. We had so many students dancing with us. I got to see people who i normally don’t see or talk to throughout the day. I think it was fun. Everybody got to get out of their comfort zones and try something new. Some students defiantly didn’t want to dance but we cant force them to if they’re uncomfortable.  It was just an experience we can say later on that we got to do. High school isn’t always “fun” so you have to make the best of it. That’s how i see this experience, you have to know how to have a little fun and find interest in the little things or you wont enjoy high school.

What Makes A Person Successful

When it comes to becoming successful you have to focus on yourself. You have set goals for yourself in order to achieve success. For example i want to be successful on my basketball team. In order to do so i have to work hard at practice. Not only working hard on the court but just as much effort off the court. Focusing on whats important in every situation i am put in. I have to push myself to do better every time. I learn new things everyday. You have to give effort and not let yourself give up when things get hard. Make your goal a step- by- step process. In life you should want to be successful in everything you do, it helps you become a better person. Starting at a young age to become more successful gets you ahead in life.

Hi my name is Ashley. I am at junior at Fairfield Career Center. I am taking Exercise Science to become a Physical Therapist. My home school is Millersport High School. I play basketball and softball. I have played ever since i was a little kid. I love being active and i love being outdoors. I spend a lot of time with family and friends, they mean everything to me. My future plans are to graduate high school, go to college sometime and get a steady job that i enjoy. I want to find a career path that i enjoy doing. I want to help myself as well as others.
